In the middle of Flevoland's food hub (Noordoostpolder and Urk), Tolsma-Grisnich contributes to food conservation worldwide. The Emmeloord-based company is the global market leader in designing storage and climate systems for agricultural products. CEO Dim-Jan de Visser sees Flevoland as: 'the place to be in the field of agricultural entrepreneurship'.
Literal testing ground
"Everything that happens after harvesting is what a company can call on Tolsma-Grisnich for. We are the specialist in post harvesting. Whether it is 40 degrees plus or 40 degrees minus outside, we build the equipment to fill the shed and ensure the ideal storage conditions for the food.'' The agricultural environment that Flevoland offers is very important to Tolsma-Grisnich, the literal testing ground of the area ensures that experiments close to the headquarters can easily take place. Space plays a big part in this.
Sustainable production
Flevoland is a great place to be based as a company in the food industry, De Visser believes. The brand-new headquarters in Emmeloord employs more than 200 colleagues, in addition to all branches internationally. "Anyway, the Netherlands is the place to be in terms of agricultural business. Logistically, we are the most sustainably producing country in the world. With our company, we are making a sustainable contribution to the world by enabling food conversation.''
Active in the NOP
For as long as the Northeast Polder has existed, Tolsma-Grisnich has been active in this corner of the new country. The pioneering mentality of 'shoulders down and heads up' is palpably present in the company. "Here it is still possible to build a future as a company. We are happy that as a company we are still in Dutch hands and so we can also contribute to a piece of Dutch pride in Flevoland.
