The Urkerveld is new nature reserve on the north side of Urk. It is managed by Het Flevo-landschap and connects the Urkerbos with the open water of the IJsselmeer behind the dike.
In the Lepelaarplassen near Almere, a young bald eagle was born for the first time in 2019. The youngster was named Jannie WN13. Jannie is the first bald eagle born in an area of Het Flevo-landschap.
