Smart software from Flevoland - connects construction site with office
VanMeijel Automation
Frans van Meijel worked on concrete platforms at Schiphol Airport, which involved a lot of manual labour. He thought this could be done differently. From his attic room in 1987, he devised a software package that made paper and calculators redundant for making calculations in civil engineering. Now, 30 years later, his sons Theo and Peter van Meijel are continuing their father's work. A story about innovation, daring and seeing opportunities.

Smart Innovation Hub
The Smart Innovation Hub in Almere offers innovative Flevoland entrepreneurs, educational institutions, regional authorities and students a place to meet. This initiative is supported by Horizon Flevoland and managed by Manuela Krull-Mancinelli.
Besides workplaces, start-ups such as Odd.Bot, which has developed a robot 'weed whacker', are also offered extras such as extra publicity, interesting meetings and the opportunity to exchange views with other innovative entrepreneurs. And together with Odd.Bot, a hackathon is likely to be organised soon. This is an event where participants work in teams non-stop to come up with solutions to presented cases within a short time.
