Marker Wadden - Unique nature reserve

From dream to reality

Marker Wadden is a unique nature reserve under development. The nature islands are being constructed with sand, clay and silt from the Markermeer to contribute to the nature restoration of the Markermeer. New nature will develop on this new group of islands with natural shores. A natural paradise for fish and birds. But also for people, who will soon be able to enjoy recreational activities here.

100.000 - homes

Short term

A lot of additional housing is needed in the Netherlands in the coming years. Especially in the Amsterdam region, it is difficult to find affordable housing. 100,000 homes need to be built within a few years. Flevoland has the space for this and a lot of land is owned by the state. Flevoland therefore wants to contribute to this! Together with the municipalities, the province is investigating where those houses can be built in the short term.

Lelystad Airport - Renovation

Ready for take-off

Lelystad Airport has been converted from a regional to an international passenger airport in recent years and will offer an attractive alternative for air travel within Europe and to other countries around the Mediterranean from the end of 2021.
