The power of nature - Bald eagle Jannie
Flevoland's first bald eagle
In the Lepelaarplassen near Almere, a young bald eagle was born for the first time in 2019. Jannie is the first bald eagle born in an area of Het Flevo-landschap as well as in the municipality of Almere. The youngster is named after forester Jan Horstra who assisted in ringing.

Living by the water in Nagele
After more than 40 years in Amsterdam, Martijn de Jonge moved to the Northeast Polder with his wife eight years ago. His love for the bald eagle and the water played a big part in this. Since the 1980s, he has followed this impressive bird of prey, which feels at home in Flevoland. Now he organises boat trips for nature lovers through the IJssel estuary to show them the impressive bird and its rich nature.
