Story Electronic Logistics
'Anyone can transport goods from A to B. How you do it is especially important. Electronic Logistics wants to excel in the storage and transport of damage- and theft-sensitive products. In 2021, we will serve the entire Benelux from our new, certified warehouse in Zeewolde.'
Logistics hotspot - Zeewolde
Everything with a plug
George de Greef is financial director of Electronic Logistics. In 2015, he and his little brother Niels took over their parents' family business. Even then, the focus was on 'everything with a plug' and logistics hotspot Zeewolde. 'Here there is room to do business and Zeewolde is super central. 'Wine and television go well together, but not in a car,' our mother always says. We therefore specialise in distribution and warehousing of electronics.'
Logistics hotspot
The Almere-Lelystad-Zeewolde region has been runner up in the Logistics Hotspot election for years. The region is now in third place. Electronic Logistics hitchhiked on Flevoland's logistics profile: the availability of the right personnel, sufficient building land, its central location and good infrastructure. Developments around Airport Lelystad strengthen the profile. 'At our new warehouse, we want a certification that meets the security requirements that aviation also has. It may eventually provide additional turnover from other branches.'
Everyone MBO
'Again, we have security in place, both in our warehouse and on the trucks. Our drivers and staff realise what they are working with. They naturally speak Dutch and understandable English. We continuously train our employees and make sure everyone has their MBO.'
Efficiency and sustainability - In Flevoland
More with digital data
'A month ago, we digitised all the paperwork in a week. Now we work with scanners and PDAs. That was already in the planning, but - forced by circumstances - we accelerated it. We want to do more with data anyway to work even more efficiently. From more volume to fewer stops and ultimately less fuel consumption. Our fleet is super modern (Euro 6) and on average two years young. Environmental zones in cities don't stop us. Apart from that: we are happy to participate in making the energy transition more sustainable.'
Characteristics of a family business
'Our promise? We make every effort to deliver what we promise. We are a flat organisation and put our shoulders to the wheel together at peak times. We also help load ourselves. I don't know any better really. It is typical of a family business. We can think it up as management, but ultimately we just have to do it together.
