High-tech

The machinery is high tech, the products of the highest quality kind and the customers of the highest level in the aerospace industry. Crucial to the 'premier league' in which HTM Precision operates in Almere is the human factor. ''The people who work here, think along and grow, they make the difference within our company,'' says Rob van den Puttelaar, manager of operations within HTM.
HTM Precision - makes future in Flevoland
Opportunities for young talent
In Flevoland, Van den Puttelaar experiences opportunities to attract talent, train young people and establish a culture in which quality and continuous improvement are central. ,, I think it is important for a high-tech company to operate not just 'in the Randstad', but in a region that offers sufficient room for growth, development and cooperation. Flevoland, with its location, accessibility and entrepreneurial friendliness, offered us, from the first branch in Amsterdam, a stage to innovate and expand.''
'Can't be, doesn't exist'
HTM Precision targets suppliers within the aerospace industry, from civil to military. Using CNC lathes and milling machines, the company supplies high-quality products to manufacturers from Boeings to missile launchers. It was one of the first companies in the Netherlands to obtain ISO 9001 certification, to lead the industry in this too. "Can't be done, doesn't exist with us. We receive a drawing from the customer asking: 'can you make this?' And then we like to get to work, the bigger the challenge, the better. The technical knowledge of my colleagues is very high, which allows us to really make a difference. And over eighty per cent of our people live in Almere, so people hardly have any travel time.''
Ecosystem
Regions are distinguished by people, according to Van Puttelaar. For him, it is important that Flevoland offers talent, training opportunities and has a clear route for people who want to grow in engineering and manufacturing. ''Through such an ecosystem, the region can strengthen itself and support companies located there. We have very good experiences with the municipality of Almere in that area.''
'More than just making'
Rob also appreciates Flevoland's mentality: a combination of down-to-earthness and innovativeness. In his view, that is exactly what is needed when operating in market segments that demand precision, quality and continuous improvement. Van Puttelaar sees that the 'Flevoland playing field' feels like a foundation for growth. ''Our company is at the centre of a region that wants to move forward, and that is exactly what we want. Not just a place to make something, but a place to mean something.''
